UE is a very special MM phono preamplifier with choices rare even in top of the line creations and never seen before in this class of audio products. No operational amplifier, no feedback, no standard low cost parts, passive splitted Riaa. We cut any unuseful part and cost. Our long experience in audio circuit indicated us a clear path, and we started developing this product.
PM-1 UE improves the already excellent performance of the previous PM-1, thanks to new fast-soft recovery diodes, new output caps, more precise Riaa e new FET output buffer!
A few features:
Input impedance can be set choosing between 47kohm and 1kohm, and choosing any combination among 100pF, 200pF and 400pF, for a perfect match with your cartridge.
Intense use of HDG blocks helps to reduce noise and to increase dynamic. The power transformer of the PM-1 is made with a top quality core, usually used in audio output transformers. In order to improve ESR, many low value electrolythic capacitors have been used in place of one or two high value ones.
<<...it's so quiet that I can use my DL-103R directly (the rest of the gain is supplied by the line preamp)...>>
Several Shunt regulated power supplies can be found in
. Shunt regulation is expensive, rare and very good sounding. It's difficult to find this technique even in high cost products. We reduced any kind of noise coming from the power supply in many ways. It's very important to have clean, pure and fast power supplies. To improve the performance, we designed a custom mains filter. Despite the zero-feedback discrete design, the result in noise and hum rduction is a deep silence, rare also in high cost objects.
