Veritas and Vendetta.

Never believe in people promising you the TRUTH (Veritas). None has the truth. Maybe many are right and they may have part of the truth. I don’t have the truth. I have a clear idea of what I want and I propose my idea of home listening to customers.

On the other side, the name AudioNemesis means Vendetta of Audio. Why? Because home listening today needs some vendetta! Too many famous brands are offering poor products with a beautiful dress. And too many Chinese products are infesting the market, with low prices, good assembly but very poor sound, despite claims.

We don’t have the Truth, but we offer clear listening philosophy without telling you we have the Truth. Instead, we do know what we want and what pure audiophiles wants: listening to Music! Music needs Vendetta, not Veritas!

V for Vendetta!

One of the most attractive things is to design and create low and mid cost products. I think that it is rather easy to design very good audio products without specific cost limit: cost-no-object products are easy! Despite this, many of them are absolutely standard items, with standard sound and standard construction. On the other side, it’s common to see great looking products. What about what’s inside? Or: are we sure that the sound is important in cost-no-object audio products?

On the contrary, designing low and mid cost product is a great challenge. We cannot do all we have in our mind, we simply cannot! We need to choose. And, much more important, we have to find new ways! Yes, I don’t think we need to experiment in cost-no-object products to find new and effective solutions. We just need to experiment! How many companies can say they do research? Not only laboratory research and experiments, but listening tests!

Oh, yes, we do them!

I found an interesting new article on the famous Italian DIY magazine Costruire Hi-Fi (#117), and I read it all. Did you read it? Please do it, because we can do many considerations. Just a few here.

Quality of audio articles faded. It’s very rare to find interesting sentences or results of experiments. Articles are mainly full of opinions, the trend is clear: all writers are the best audio designers in the world. All other writers or designers are wrong. No matter the topic.

Matti Otala was a great researcher. Yes, he did, he made really important considerations. Are we sure that after 30 years we must simply copy his work adding just a few marginal things? Electrocompaniet 25W was a great amplifier. It was. If you listen to it now, you can hear we can improve it. Please see the story here: http://home.online.no/~tsandstr/OtalaStory.htm.

Despite many experiments opening to other solutions, it was very strange to me to find on CHF #117 a very standard schematic, without ANY original solution, with high level of NFB and you read that it’s one of the best amp you can use all around! Great guy, we were waiting for you!

AudioNemesis is offering the Upgrade for DC-1 and DC-1 Upgrade Edition with very special output capacitors instead of the very well known and appreciated Mundorf Supreme.

Since the first Upgrade we always used Mundorf Supreme 3,3uF 800V capacitors for improving the original caps. Now we are offering a different and much better solution!

This new capacitor is branded AudioNautes! This capacitor is wound onto a nylon core using a 10μM (630Vdc) polypropylene film. This winding technique allows the winding to be controlled in terms of winding tension, resulting in a tight winding devoid of as many air pockets as possible. Controlling the critical production processes the sonic outputs resulting from resonances within the component are reduced from the level seen within other capacitors. This capacitor is really superior and it is the result of a 2 year research programme. It has very low self-inductance and very low ESR, with very high temperature and frequency stability. Compared to other expensive capacitors, this model is far superior in any aspect, such as micro and macro dynamic, harmonics, micro details. Hand soldered terminations are in pure copper for better sound results.

The 3,3uF value and other values are available on the DIY page too.

Please contact AudioNemesis or the distributor in your country.

After 5 years of success, the D/A converter DC-1 is now officially discontinued.

We actually offer the DC-1 Upgrade Edition only. See the dedicated page for details.

July 2008

Since December 2007, we offer a very high quality upgrade for the D/A converter DC-1.

Since then, customers are asking for already upgraded DC-1 increased very quickly.

For this reason and considering the far superior performance of the upgraded version over the standard one, standard DC-1 model we will be soon discontinued with the introduction of the Upgrade Edition.

AudioNemesis is offering the DC-1Upgrade Edition. It’s a standard DC-1 with the upgrade set already in place, with regular official warranty and stickers indicating it’s an official model.

December 2007

Since 2004, the D/A converter DC-1 won several Awards and received many great reviews. After 3 years it is still a reference for very high quality sound at an affordable price. It outperforms any d/a converter up to several times its price!

Despite the circuit topology seems to be common to many other converters, the sound is very different from similar audio productions in this price range. In effect, the audio circuit has many original features, rare also in high price products. AudioNemesis also worked and spent hundreds of hours in tuning many details of this converter, reaching a very rich, natural and “analogue” sound.

Now AudioNemesis is offering an upgrade for this model. Thanks to new, better and more expensive parts and important mods to the audio circuit as well as to the shunt regulators, the sound will be richer, more dynamic, more transparent with rock solid 3D reconstruction, with more details and even more “analogue” sound. We can call it a true upgrade (opposed to fake upgrades, so common nowadays).
