Circuit simplicity and a minimum number of components are the key elements. Less is better, but we do want to use the right device for the right purpose in the right way. DC-1 Upgrade Edition takes form from its “father” DC-1, and it is a simple appliance, using only the minimum quantity of parts for the proper work, following “the simpler the better, but not even simpler”.

This is the simplified structure of
DC-1 Upgrade Edition:

A few features

  • Custom mains filter
  • Custom power transformer
  • Fast-soft recovery Diodes in TO-220 (<25ns)
  • 6 separated power supplies
  • 5 out of 6 power supplies are shunt regulated
  • New special shunt power supply dedicated to the d/a chips
  • 75ohm SPDIF input only
  • Scientific Conversion, with only 0,5pF (!), input digital transformer
  • Asyncronous reclocking circuit
  • Two 16bit (multibit) d/a chip in parallel
  • Zero-oversampling
  • Direct output from dacs without any output stage (zero-feedback...)
  • Pure silver internal digital wiring
  • Dale 1% resistors
  • AudioNautes special output capacitors
  • HDG (High Density Graphite) to damp vibrations
  • Professional high quality standards PCB designed without edges

The signal passes through a few elements only. After the RCA SPDIF input connector, there is no switch and it directly goes into the receiver.

The output from this chip goes to an asyncronous reclocking circuit and then to the d/a (digital to analog) converts (2 in parallel).
The output from the converters goes to the output RCA connectors through special audio capacitors (branded AudioNautes) and special custom pure silver wires. That’s all, there is no output analog circuit (unlike the zero-feedback discrete circuit used in the original DC-1). Part of the analog sound of this appliance is in its simplicity.
This converter has been designed for a balanced sound, full a harmonics, without tricks: listen to it for a few hours and enjoy the Music!
